Curious Inspiration. In the Mood for Love (花樣年華) is a 2000 Hong Kong film directed by Wong Kar-wai, starring Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung. Set in Hong Kong and Singapore in 1962, it tells of Chow Mo-wan (Leung), a journalist, who rents a room in an apartment of a building on the same day as Su Li-zhen (Cheung), a secretary from a shipping company. They become next-door neighbors. Each has a spouse who works and often leaves them alone on overtime shifts. Beautifully filmed and laden with its erotic longing, the entire movie plays out like a tango, as this scene proves. Enjoy.
